IT'S official! Bolton hit (Is This The Way To) Amarillo has become Top of the Pops.
Peter Kay and Tony Christie's classic 1970s release swept all before them on Sunday as it stormed to the number one spot in the UK charts.
As predicted last week in the Bolton Evening News, Amarillo crushed the competition after selling 150,00 copies in its first week.
The single, which originally went to number 18 in 1971, raised money for charity Comic Relief and knocked McFly down to number two.
In Bolton, the song sold out at HMV and Music Zone on the first morning it was released.
Comedian Kay has used the song in his stand-up routines and TV show Phoenix Nights.
He recruited a host of TV celebrities to appear in a video, which was shown during Comic Relief's Red Nose Day on 11 March.
It shows Kay miming the track alongside stars including Michael Parkinson, Jimmy Savile and Ronnie Corbett.
Christie enjoyed further success with his Definitive Collection album, which rose two places to the number two spot in the album chart.
And the crooner's fame is growing with an appearance in TV soap Emmerdale in the offing.
