ELTON Vale booked a place in the final of the Sam Ashworth Trophy, edging a thriller at Garswood United.
Julian Ferrier scored the only goal in a tight competitive game, and they now meet the winner of the Cross Keys v Dobbies B semi final played on April 3.
Dobbies B booked their place in the last four by beating Old Smithillians 2-1 with Mark Green scoring both goals. Dobbies are also still in the quarter finals of the Divisional Cup and could go on to two cup finals this year, although their lowly league placing could see them relegated from the First Division.
In Division Two, Dobbies C took a giant step towards the First Division after comprehensively beating promotion rivals Bay Mare Strollers 4-2 helped by a Dave Hall hat-trick. The result means that if Dobbies C win their remaining game they are guaranteed at least the runners-up spot.
The top of the Third Division started to take shape with leaders Horwich Town beating the Fir Tree 2-0 with two goals from Andy Morris. The game saw veteran striker Arthur Flatters suffer the indignity of being substituted for the first time in his career, to the great amusement of his team.
