JANE Austen's Pride and Prejudice is coming to Manchester .
The Good Company theatre group revives its celebrated production of the novel with a well-known cast of actors at the Palace Theatre between March 30 and April 2.
"Bright and sparkling" is Jane Austen's own description of this romantic comedy, which has been described as "a triumph of love spiced with mercenary motives, capturing the importance of wit, irony, and conversation in Regency England".
At the heart of the story are Elizabeth and Darcy. She finds him conceited and he finds her provincial until love finally conquers his pride and her prejudice.
Pride and Prejudice was the inspiration of the hit book and film Bridget Jones' Diary.
This delightfully funny and engrossing adaptation of the classic comedy features, in the title roles, John Leslie and Chloe Newsome, who was Vicky McDonald in Coronation Street.
The production features the music of the period played and sung live on stage by the company.
Good Company was established in 1986 by artistic director Sue Pomeroy and is well known for adventurous stagings of well-loved classics and new work.
Acclaimed recent productions include Wuthering Heights, Hard Times, Emma, Jane Eyre, Othello and The Sneeze.
