IT was very sad to learn that 13-year-old Michael Strangwood had lost his brave fight for life.
He had spent the past five years in a twilight world after being hit by a rare incurable genetic illness, which featured in the film "Lorenzo's Oil"
Michael had gone from an active boy who loved to ride his bike to being trapped in a silent world.
His mum Pam, dad Paul and brother Andrew cared for him wonderfully at their home on the Oldhams Estate in Bolton, and his plight caught the attention of many local people who helped him and his family in many different ways.
Michael showed remarkable bravery, and prompted a response from all who met him.
His family will be understandably devastated by his loss, but they may be comforted by the fact that their son touched so many lives. And that the love and compassion they showed has been a wonderful example to us all.
