GRAVES in a Bolton cemetery where steeplejack Fred Dibnah has been laid to rest have become a target for yobs.
Headstones have been smeared with mud and pushed over at Tonge Cemetery.
And, bizarrely, the yobs have been burying tins of soup and biscuits in some of the graves.
The problems stem back to last November and youths are believed to be the cause.
A Breightmet woman whose grandparents, father and sister are buried in the cemetery has expressed her disgust.
She said: "It's sick. I've no idea who is doing it but because these headstones are so heavy, I would think it would have to be more than one person.
"They've smashed the top off our family headstone and it's been pushed over before.
"There were even tins of food and boxes pushed into the grave. Something needs to be done, it's upsetting a lot of people."
A police spokesman said: "This is a matter of concern and we will be investigating."
