YOUNGSTERS at a Bolton school rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty for a charity litter pick.
Pupils at St Joseph's RC School, in Chorley New Road, Horwich, took part in a range of sponsored events to raise cash for St Joseph's Penny - a Catholic children's rescue home.
As well as the litter pick, which took place on Monday, there were a number of other sponsored events including ice-skating in Blackburn, a fun run and 10-pin bowling.
Pupils also raised cash through an own clothes day, doughnut sale, raffles and a football skills competition.
A spokesman for the school said: "There were a lot of activities going on throughout the school on St Joseph's Penny Day. The children loved it."
It is hoped that when all the money is counted the school will have raised more than the £5,000.
