MEN are being urged to find out more about a life-threatening cancer which affects one in 12 males.
The Bolton Prostate Cancer support group is using prostate awareness week to encourage men to seek more information about the condition, which is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK.
The support group, which also covers Bury, will be manning a stand at Bolton Market Hall on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
The founder, Ian Jackson, received a grant to set up the group after being diagnosed with the condition in 2003. Ian and his friends offer group and one-to-one support.
Information on prostate cancer is also available this week from an information stand in the main corridor of the Royal Bolton Hospital.
The Bolton support group can be contacted through PSA North of England on 0845 456 0678. The same number can be used to find out more about the condition and also information on its symptoms.
