GOLFERS at Pike Fold Golf Club in Bury have presented the Christie Hospital with £1,700 following a year of fundraising events.
Club secretary John O'Donnell has raised money for the Christie for many years in memory of his son Peter who died from lung cancer in 1987, aged just 20, and his wife Rita, who died of lung cancer three years later aged 54.
Over the years, Mr O'Donnell has raised more than £6,000.
This year John's total was swelled by former golf club Captain Terry Watson who decided to make the Christie his charity of the year.
