AN AWARD-winning Bolton brass band will celebrate 100 years of performances with a concert at Bolton's Victoria Hall.
At the Brilliant Brass, Brilliant Voices concert on Saturday, April 16, Wingates Brass Band will be joined by the Warrington Male Voice Choir, with guest conductor Andrew Berryman. Mr Berryman is lead trombonist with the Halle Orchestra and musical director of Bolton's Corus Brass Ensemble.
Wingates spokesman David Kaye said: "This concert will aim to celebrate the centenary of a wonderful and ongoing relationship between the town's largest, and in the opinion of many the finest, concert auditorium and the area's premier brass band."
Formed in 1873 by men from the Wingates Independent Methodists' Bible class, today Wingates' members play throughout the world.
Wingates will play two more concerts in 2005 - a celebration of 200 years since the battle of Trafalgar in October, and a Christmas concert with the Houghton Weavers.
Tickets for Brilliant Brass, Brilliant Voices are £8 and £7 from the box office 01204 334400.
