THE body of an "inspirational" Bolton teacher, missing in the Asian tidal wave disaster, has been formally identified.
West London Coroner's Court has opened and adjourned an inquest into the death of former Withins School teacher Susan Ford.
She went missing with her husband Terence, aged 62, after the Boxing Day disaster in Thailand.
It is believed the teacher's body was identified by DNA testing. Her name has appeared on a list of 64 British people identified by the Home Office.
Mrs Ford, the 55-year-old head of Modern Languages at the Breightmet school, was on holiday and was reported missing by her family. Pupils and staff at the school were offered counselling when they heard of the tragedy.
A spokesman for the school said: "Mrs Ford was an inspirational teacher and a talented manager."
She was due to retire later this year after 19 years at the school. The couple had recently moved from Turton to Blackburn.
