ELECTRICITY consumers in selected parts of the North-west may soon be able to pay their bill at their local sub-post office.

At its meeting in Manchester today the North-west Electricity Council - "watchdog" for 1,500,000 consumers - decided to ask the Board to press forward as quickly as possible with the introduction of such a facility.

BOB-A-JOB week this year will be April 11 to April 16 and scout headquarters is providing stick-on leaflets which include a big tick and the two words "Job Done".

Each Scout will be supplied with six of these reminders so that no one else need knock at the door where one is showing.

100 YEARS AGO From the Evening News March 25, 1905

TWO more cases of smallpox were reported in Bury yesterday, this making 17 cases in a little over a fortnight.

The latest cases are of children whose parents are already in the Ainsworth Hospital.

During the week a well-known Bury tradesman died in the smallpox hospital, where there are now 16 patients.

THE presentation of the Stanley Billiard Cup to this year's winners, Tonge-cum-Breightmet, took place at the Commercial Hotel, Bolton, on Friday evening, Mr T Scowcroft JP performing the ceremony in place of Lord Stanley MP, who could not attend owing to pressure of Parliamentary duties.

The runners-up were Westhoughton.

The toast to "Our Member, Lord Stanley MP", proposed by Dr Morris, was enthusiastically received and drunk with musical honours.
