One little chick could be excused for feeling a little shell shocked.
For as soon as he had battled his way out of one egg, he found himself in another . . . this time one of the chocolate variety.
He is one of 27 newly-born Easter chicks at Smithills Open Farm who have been delighting young visitors.
And four-year-old Isaac Neary-Morris, from Bromley Cross, was more than happy to share his chocolate egg with him.
Chicks are not the only new arrivals at the farm. Lamb triplets were born there on Friday..
There is also a seven-week premature baby Fresian calf called Midnight and a young llama named Amy. The farm, next to Smithills Coaching House, is attracting around 200 visitors every day.
