CHRISTIANS carried a huge cross through Bolton town centre to mark Good Friday.
Up to 50 people walked from St Andrew and St George United Reformed Church in St George's Road to Victoria Square for an Easter service.
Hot cross buns donated by Hampsons were handed to passers-by, along with a serviette on which were printed the story of Easter and details of where people could find their local church.
The Rev Phil Mason, Minister of Victoria Hall, conducted a 15 minute service near the steps of Bolton town hall at which passers-by joined in the singing of two hymns.
Mr Mason said he was pleased with the response the procession received from shoppers.
He said: "It was great to see shoppers and passers-by stop and take part in the service. The very fact that people responded to the procession, had a hot cross bun or just stopped and watched proved the service was a success."
