THE Octagon Theatre reinforces its commitment to new writing by joining forces once again with Nottingham Playhouse to present the North-west premiere of Satin 'n' Steel by Amanda Whittington.
Satin 'n' Steel is a music-filled romantic comedy about making it big in clubland and has been described as Phoenix Nights meets Fame Academy.
Packed with classic clubland hits performed live, Satin n Steel features Norman Pace, of Hale & Pace fame, as Vince Steel and Octagon newcomer Sara Poyzer as Teena Satin. When 20-something wannabe Teena walks into the life of seasoned club singer Vince Steel, he thinks he has struck gold.
Teena is just what The Vince Steel Experience has been waiting for and together they make a dynamite act "Satin 'n' Steel".
As their reputation picks up apace, they find themselves sucked from the local miner's welfare club to London and the stuff that dreams are made of.
Under the spotlight, they make sweet music and offstage love blossoms between them - but a guilty secret jeopardises their plans for super-stardom.
Writer Amanda Whittingtons best-known work, Be My Baby, has been produced by the Oldham Coliseum and Hull Truck, among others, and her other writing credits include Bollywood Jane and The Wills Girls.
l Satin 'n' Steel plays at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, from Wednesday, April 6, to Saturday, April 30. Tickets are on sale now, priced £6.50 to £15.95, and can be booked via the Octagon's Ticket Office on 01204 520661, or online at www.octagonbolton.co.uk
