VISITING Blackpool is good for your health - according to an old medical manual recently unearthed.
The Medical Climatology of England and Wales says the famous Lancashire resort offers "valuable treatment" for everything from adenoids to anaemia.
Details about Blackpool and other resorts were published in the British Medical Journal's latest edition, based on the 1923 book by Dr Edgar Hawkins.
Dr Hawkins claimed Blackpool, famous for its tower, gaudy seafront and kiss-me-quick hats, has an "exhilarating and strongly tonic" climate.
The advice was unearthed by Bernard Dixon, European Contributing editor on Biotechnology to the BMJ, who said "Since Blackpool's sunshine, rainfall, humidity, barometric pressure, location, and geology have scarcely changed over the past seven decades, the author's advice probably remains valid."
