I am absolutely up to here with motorists moaning about speed humps.

Speed humps would not be necessary if a significant minority of motorists did not insist on driving at dangerously high speeds in totally inappropriate circumstances.

Every last traffic calming scheme in the borough was the result of worried residents complaining to the council that traffic speeds around where they lived were dangerously high, and that they wanted some action, preferably before somebody got killed.
