I HAVE now received both my household and business council tax bills, showing yet again increases which bear no resemblance to the current inflation levels.
Inflation, as we all know, has been constantly low for a number of years.
I wondered if anyone at the council could explain why it finds it so difficult to do what the rest of us have to do in our private lives and in business - that is to manage a budget.
Where is the council black hole? Is the council not managing its sub-contractors? Is it overpaying its staff? Is it allowing staff sicknesses to go unchecked?
Bolton Council is certainly not increasing the level of services. By its own admission, it is cutting those.
So, who is responsible? If this was private industry, someone would be held to account.
