I READ with interest the exploits of Bolton North-east MP David Crausby, in getting Town Hall bosses to "look again" at moves to install the giant primary route display at the top of Halliwell Road, after pressure from himself (Bolton Evening News, March 21).
As one of the councillors for this area, I was contacted on January 12, the day the posts were erected, by very concerned residents, angry that this had happened in a conservation area and outside a Grade II listed building.
I contacted all the relevant officers within Bolton Council, and work was stopped to allow a wider consultation. On January 28, I was informed that the department would "look again" at the problem. The residents were informed on both occasions of the decisions.
I was disappointed that the article did not mention the success already achieved by the local councillors.
