LEIGH CENTURIONS 24, LONDON BRONCOS 22: Centurions coach Darren Abram praised his players for refusing to give up hope after finally securing their first Engage Super League win.

Leigh had been widely written off after losing their first seven games in the top flight, some even suggesting they would not win a single game.

Abram said: "The lads never gave up. They stuck to the plan we set out and all the hard work we have put in paid dividends. I'm proud of every one of them."

Abram's side made a strong point to their critics as they produced a superb fightback to overcome the much-fancied Broncos.

Leigh had trailed 16-2 at one point but did not throw in the towel, and Rob Jackson's try against his old club eight minutes from time allowed full-back Neil Turley to complete the comeback with a nerveless touchline conversion.

Abram added: "There is a saying that you only get out what you put in.

"Until tonight that hasn't happened for us. We've not had a result to show for all our hard work but we have kept believing that the win would come."

Leigh led early on with a Turley penalty but three London tries in 11 minutes from Jon Wells, Paul Sykes and Mark McLinden, plus two Sykes goals, put the Broncos 16-2 up.

Turley pulled a try and goal back in the 34th minute to ignite Leigh's fightback. Twelve minutes into the second half John Duffy plunged over to further cut the deficit to 16-12.

When Turley's clever pass found John Wilshere, the winger shot in by the posts and Turley's conversion had Leigh in front at 18-16.

But they looked to have ruined their good work when sloppy defending allowed Nick Bradley-Qalilawa in at the corner for a try converted by Sykes.

Back came Leigh again and when Duffy found Jackson with a long pass the centre steamed in to level the scores, leaving Turley to win the game with his touchline conversion.
