Plans to change the pricing of letters and packets to reflect their size rather than their weight have been unveiled by Royal Mail.
Under the proposals, due to come into force in April next year, items such as books will be cheaper to post, whereas lighter but bulkier packets, such as posters, will be more expensive.
The maximum thickness of a standard large letter will increase from 10mm to 25mm.
