AN athletics club in Horwich has become the first in Greater Manchester to be recognised for providing a safe and child-friendly atmosphere.
Horwich RMI Athletics Club has been awarded the National Governing Body UK Athletics Club mark.
Councillor Martyn Cox, Bolton Councils executive member for culture, said: "This accreditation reflects the excellent standards at the club and ensures that young people joining it are assured of the highest standards of coaching."
Bolton United Harriers and Athletics Club are currently waiting to hear if they have been successful in their bid for the award.
