DETECTIVES investigating the mystery death of a 33-year-old man want to speak to a Good Samaritan who went to his aid.
Robert Farnworth, aged 33, died in Chorley Hospital on Monday after he was discovered collapsed near Bolton town centre with a serious head injury.
Police believe Mr Farnworth, of Bradford Road, Bolton, may have received the injury after suffering a heavy fall.
And they are appealing to the driver of a dark coloured saloon who spotted Mr Farnworth's prone body on Coe Street, to come forward.
The motorist got out of his vehicle to try to help Mr Farnworth before driving to Bridgeman Street for assistance.
He approached a couple who were walking near Sainsburys supermarket and told them to call the emergency services.
The Good Samaritan then instructed an Asian man who was in the area to stand on the corner of the street to direct the arriving ambulance.
The driver, however, returned to his car and drove away from the scene.
DS Paul Hitchen, of Bolton Police, said: "We want to trace this man to assist our investigation.
There is nothing to suggest that Mr Farnworth's injuries were as a result of foul play. We have also ruled out that he had been the victim of a road accident."
