BOLTON boxer Amir Khan's Olympic Final re-match with Cuban great Mario Kindelan will take place at Bolton Wanderers' Reebok Stadium on April 30 - live on ITV!

Frantic last-minute negotiations on Thursday rescued Khan's chance to avenge his Olympic final loss in his hometown.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Liverpool boxing chief and ABA official Paul King, who has spent the last six months organising a prestigious international involving the Cuban national team and the Four Nations champions, rubbished promoter Frank Warren's claims of the re-match.

Speaking exclusively to the Liverpool Echo, King said: "No deal is in place for Amir Khan to box Kindelan.

"The Cuban squad will box in Liverpool against the Four Nations champions on Friday, April 8 and then in Dublin a week later on April 15. The entire Cuban team are booked on a flight back to Havana on the 16th."

Kindelan's place in the Cuban team due to visit Britain and Ireland for two amateur internationals initially looked set to scupper the big fight.

But now Kindelan will box on both April 8 and April 15 before returning for the one-off showdown with Khan on a dinner show in aid of the Bury Amateur Club.

Khan told PA Sport: "I know where I went wrong in the Olympics and I'm confident next time I can change the result.

"It will be my first ever fight in Bolton so it is going to be a great occasion and I am looking forward to it."

Khan, who won Olympic silver in Athens, is widely expected to turn professional after the Kindelan clash but refused to be drawn on his long-term future.

"I don't know if the Kindelan fight will be my last amateur fight but it will certainly be one of the last," he told BBC Sport.

"I'm just keen to take it one step at a time and let my family sorted out.

"This is the biggest fight I can ask for and I want to prove I can fight Kindelan and I'm confident I can change the result this time around.

"I know what caught him out in Athens and I want to work on that and I will also change my style but I'm sure he will be doing that as well so we will see what happens."

Warren added: "The confusion has now been resolved and we are all pleased this fight is happening.

"I would rather he didn't take it but whatever the result, you have got to admire Amir because this is the fight he wants."

The eagerly-awaited contest will be broadcast live by ITV, who are returning to the sport on a one-off basis after a long absence.
