DESPITE watching his side go down 1-0 at home to Whitby on Easter Monday, Radcliffe Boro boss Kevin Glendon preferred to concentrate on the many positives he took from the game.

"I thought we limited them to very few chances, in fact 'Johnno' can't think of a single save he had to make," he said.

"Their goalkeeper on the other hand had to make quite a few, so I was pleased with the overall performance, and the least we should have come away with was a 0-0 draw.

"Steve Foster and Ciaran Kilheeney caused them all kinds of problems, and right through the team we showed spirit and played good football.

"At the back Darren Royle has settled in nicely, and in midfield Craig Fleury is improving every game.

"Over Easter we did well against two teams in Burscough and Whitby, they are both in the play-off places on merit, although I don't think there's anything between them and us.

"We certainly showed more enterprise than Whitby when we beat them 2-0 than they showed here to scrape a 1-0 win; that tells you a lot about the two teams and the footballing philosophy of the two managers, but they are not creative, they are very much a spoiling side.

"We worked hard, kept a nice shape, looked disciplined, created good chances and had good efforts on goal.

"But one lapse in decision making proved the difference, their goal should never have happened, the danger should have been cleared.

"If they were that good a side they would have gone for the jugular and would have tried to kill us off at 2-0, but they didn't.

"Before that we beat Burscough handsomely at their place, so we are not that far off where we need to be.

"Who knows, if we hadn't suffered the injuries we have we may have been where they are.

On Saturday Boro travel to the north east and County Durham to take on Spennymoor United at the Brewery Field, kick-off 3pm.

When the two teams met at Stainton Park in November they fought out a 2-2 draw.

The Moors are currently two places and four points off the relegation places and are also struggling off the pitch.

"They weren't bad when they played us at out place, but they've got huge internal problems," said Glendon.

"They lost their manager this week along with a few players and they have big financial problems; I think they are just trying to see the season out without incurring any more fines for failing to fulfil fixtures.

"So we don't know what to expect when we get up there, we don't know what kind of mood they are going to be in.

"But one thing we do know is that it is probably the worst pitch in the league

"It doesn't allow you to play any football and it almost forces you to play 'route one.' They never do anything to it, it will be devoid of grass and we're not really looking forward to it."

As far as team selection is concerned, If Leon Grandison is fit he will be on the bench where he will probably replace Paul O'Shaughnessy, otherwise it will be the same squad that faced Whitby.
