THIS area was a successful pilot for green boxes and green bins and has long had white sacks for papers.
The "operatives" who collect my waste insist on removing washed, recycleable plastics from my bin and putting it into my dustbin because it fails to meet the rules of what they may and may not accept despite being clearly marked with a recycling sign.
I have compost heaps in my garden to use most garden and compostible kitchen waste.
No garden waste is collected during winter months so I have to take prunings to a municipal site or burn them.
The only waste to go into my dustbin could be deemed hazardous .... meat, fish, food, which cannot be processed or flushed at home.
Although wrapped in plastic, the wrappings go to landfill and will take years to degrade.
Would it not create a serious health hazard by leaving such waste uncollected for two weeks, (or longer during bank holidays, Christmas and Easter) between collections?.
Dr Chadwick of Bolton was a pioneer of public health reforms in the town. Are we to suffer 21st century regression caused by elected representatives?
