AN award-winning Bolton training company which has helped hundreds of disabled people has won a top prize for the second year running.
Last year, Dorothy Martland, who founded Diversity in Barrier-Breaking Communications (DBBC), won the Individual Award at the Big Difference Awards run by the Big Life Company, which produces the Big Issue magazine, and the Northwest Development Agency. And this year, sound production trainer Martin Ellison took the same award at the event in Liverpool.
Six years ago Martin, aged 41, from Leigh, had low-self esteem, lacked confidence and was unready for employment.
But after taking part in an open college course through DBBC, he rebuilt his confidence and now works at the charity to help others learn radio broadcasting techniques. Since it began at its Ashburner Street base, the charity has helped hundreds of people.
