FILMING for top programmes such as Coronation Street could be suspended when broadcasting staff stage a 36-hour strike.
Hundreds of ITV workers belonging to the Amicus union, including those from Granada's headquarters in Manchester, are set to walk out for 36 hours from 7am on April 8 to 7pm the next day.
It could also see telly favourites such as Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway axed and disrupt filming schedules for other major shows.
The strike will involve more than 700 production technical and support staff after they voted to take industrial action in protest at a rejected 3.3 per cent pay offer.
Amicus and BECTU (Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union) members are in a dispute with bosses over pay.
Sharon Elliot, BECTU supervisory official for independent broadcasting, said: "The fact is that high pay only applies to the few in ITV."
