WITH reference to the story "old soldiers toasting pub move."
Naturally some of the "old comrades" associations may be struggling.
The age problem, government cut backs and amalgamations, along with the turnover of service personal because there is no conscription, keep the numbers down.
I thought, I would write to let people know that "The Bolton Artillery Association" is very strongly represented, along with the, Royal Artillery Association.
Our oldest "Bolton Artillery" gunner Mr Jack Briggs is 101 years old. Unfortunately he cannot attend meetings as he is in a nursing home.
Our meetings are at the Bolton Artillery barracks, Nelson Street, Bolton, and are every first Tuesday in the month.
Any serving and ex Royal Artillery personal may come and join us and see what we are about. Another point of interest is our own small, but efficient museum.
