A SUPERFUNDRAISER who has generated thousands of pounds for people around the world has turned his attention towards a blind teenager who wants to go on a trip of a lifetime.
Alf Hales, aged 83, of Booth Road, Little Lever, has a signed Bolton Wanderers team photo and signed football which he will sell to the highest bidder.
The cash will then go straight to Rachael Prest, aged 15, of Limefield Road, Radcliffe, who needs to raise £1,200 for a two-week trip to Costa Rica with her boarding school classmates. Rachael went blind on the first night of a dream holiday to Disney's Magic Kingdom in Florida in 1995 due to an illness which has plagued her from birth.
The cash will give her a chance to trek through a rain forest, horseride up a volcano and spend time with a native family.
Donations can be made to Rachael's mother, Wendy, on 07751 872 952, but anyone wishing to bid for either or both of the items up for auction, should call Alf on 01204 707397 with the closing date for bids being Saturday, April 2, at 5pm.
Alf said: "When I read a piece about Rachael in the Bolton Evening News, I wanted to do something to help. I had the photo and ball signed and want the money raised from them to go to her."
Alf has raised thousands of pounds for charity, with money going to, among others, the flood victims in York and the Boxing Day tsunami.
