KEVIN Davies has warned potential European rivals to brace themselves for a Wanderers invasion.
The no-nonsense, combative Reebok striker believes the Whites not only have what it takes to book a place in Europe, but also the ammunition to shoot some big reputations to pieces - just as they have done in the Premiership.
Wanderers have repeatedly upset the odds with their ability to mix and match quality with ferocity and Davies reckons that versatility could wreak havoc on the continent.
"Our style of football, in your face, could cause problems in Europe," he said, "but, as we showed against Norwich, we can play a bit as well."
One shudders to think of the reaction to Davies - the man who has committed more fouls than any other Premiership player - making his presence felt at the San Siro or the Nou Camp.
But Sam Allardyce is a great believer in making the most of his strengths and would have no qualms about having his spearhead striker as a central figure in his European campaign, if Wanderers get there.
Davies is taking nothing for granted but he has had a taste of Europe once before and admits his appetite has been whetted.
"I've had one European game with Blackburn Rovers and it is a great and exciting time to be linked with Europe at Bolton," he said.
"If we get in the Champions League we know it will be very difficult but even to be in the UEFA Cup would be great.
"We haven't sat down and talked about Europe as a group but as individuals we have been looking at the league table and are aware of what is on offer."
Davies, who carried off the Player of the Year award last season, has made another major contribution in this his second year in Bolton colours. Yet he still yearns to score more, knowing a bigger goal tally allied to his powerful performances could put him in the England reckoning.
"I've not scored as many goals this season as I'd have liked and I have sat down with the gaffer and the coaching staff to talk it through," he said.
"I scored 10 goals last season and was looking for 15 this time. I'm on eight and with eight games to go perhaps I can get three or four more.
"I enjoy creating as well as scoring but overall we don't have a problem scoring.
"That's why the gaffer was looking for defenders rather than forwards in the transfer window.
"I don't think about England. Maybe it's too late for a call-up, but you never know. "
