BOB Geldof has unveiled plans for a second Live Aid concert 20 years after the first - and two acts appearing at the Reebok Stadium starting on Sunday will be among the musicians chosen to play.

Sir Elton John and Coldplay will perform at Live 8, taking place on July 2 in London's Hyde Park. It is the follow-up to Live Aid which took place in 1985.

The Hyde Park gig is a month later than Sir Elton's Bolton concert, which takes place this Sunday, and for which 20,500 tickets have been sold. Several thousand are still available and tickets are expected to be available on the door on the night.

Coldplay will be at the Reebok on July 4 and 5, just a few days after the Live 8 concert.

Live 8 in London will be one of five free concerts taking place around the globe with others at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the Circus Maximus in Rome and a venue in Philadelphia.

And the calibre of musicians appearing in London will be high. Coldplay and Sir Elton will be joined by Mariah Carey, Dido, Keane, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Muse, the Scissor Sisters, Sir Paul McCartney, Joss Stone, Stereophonics, Sting, Snoop, Robbie Williams, U2 and REM.

Hundreds of thousands of music fans will attend with billions more watching around the world on TV.

Tickets for the free Hyde Park concert will be made available through a special text lottery to be announced at 8am on Monday through TV, radio and newspapers.

Giant screens will be erected across the UK for those not able to get a ticket.

Live 8 aims to raise awareness of world poverty and is timed to coincide with the G8 summit in Scotland, when leaders of the world's eight richest countries will meet.

The original Live Aid remains the biggest event in music history. Two concerts were held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London - attended by 74,000 people and the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia on July 13, 1985. The extravaganza attracted a worldwide audience of 1.4 billion people and Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, U2, David Bowie and Madonna all took part. They raised £40 million for famine relief.
