ON Saturday, June 4, my son went on a trip to Southport with his friends.
On the journey home as he got off the train he realised he had left his phone on the train. He called his mum to tell her and we thought that would be the last we would see of it.
My wife called his number and a lady (who sounded elderly) answered it and said she would hand it to the conductor. Again I thought that would be the last of it.
But we received a call a short time later from the conductor saying he was on his way back to Bolton station and on arrival he would hand it to the station master, giving me information of where to collect it. On my way to work I called, and sure enough it was in office at Bolton station.
Is my son just very lucky, or is my scepticism of the honesty of people unfounded? If the lady who handed in the phone, or the conductor, reads this, I would like to thank them very much.
