A CENTURY from professional Suresh Raina laid the foundation for Astley and Tyldesley's 31-run victory over Standish to reach the semi-final of the Bolton Association's Cross Cup.
Batting first, pro Raina hit a magnificent 102 and was well backed up by Chris Bullock (31), Paul Bennett 30 and Andrew Groves (24) to compile an impressive 229-8.
In reply, Standish never got to grips with the run rate as all the A&T bowlers demonstrated a tight line and length.
Steve Walsh, Paul Bennett, Simon Nicklin and Raina picked up two wickets each and Standish were all out for 198 in 46 overs.
Darcy Lever were five-wicket winners at Golborne after bowling out the home side for 160.
Ian Seddon contributed 57 to that total but, with Patel taking 3-26, it was never enough to deter Darcy.
They replied with 164-5, Nick Fawcett hitting 41, Jon Norris 34 and Chris Thompson 29 not out.
A five-wicket haul by Peter Lomax helped Elton to a five-wicket win over Spring View.
View were restricted to 175-9 with David Gornall top scoring with 47.
That target posed few problems for the home side and pro Dexter Fitton led the way with a top score of 49, with Damien Keegan adding 40.
Clifton bowled Edgworth out for only 125, but they lost seven wickets themselves before finally clinching their place in the semi-final of the competition.
Nigel Barlow top scored for Edgworth with 27 but three wickets for Steve Holt and two for Chris Tye broke the home side's resistance.
When Clifton batted, Nigel Barlow and Adam Syddall both claimed three wickets, but Jamie Royle (23), Geoff Griffiths (23) and Steve Holt (21 not out) did enough with the bat to edge the win for Clifton.
