I WRITE in defence of all the young drivers out there who are given such a hard time for being "boy racers" and "a nuisance to other motorists".

I feel that it is the older drivers who are more perilous to other road users than anyone else.

I have found that in most cases where I have been cut up, swerved into or been pulled out on (usually all in one day, driving past Bolton market), it is the over-50s drivers who are most responsible for this.

It is about time they took responsibility for their actions and drove with more caution, instead of shouting abuse and gesturing when they are in the wrong.

They all complain about the "youth of today", but they really don't set a very good example, do they?

They should learn some manners, and admit when they are in the wrong.

Why should younger drivers be penalised with higher insurance premiums? It seems to me the older generation pose the most threat.

As a 20-something driver, I have never had an accident, and certainly never caused one. But I fear that the way things are going, that is bound to change.
