CARERS in Bolton are to be treated to a guided tour of the ancient cellars of Bolton's oldest pub.
Landlord at the Ye Olde Man and Scythe in Churchgate, John Jewitt, will dress up as a 16th century landlord to show his guests around.
The pub is said to be Britain's fourth oldest pub. He will relate the tale of the Earl of Derby's last night in the hostelry before his execution in Churchgate the following day.
The tour starts at noon on Monday and includes a pie and peas lunch with the option of cider-tasting afterwards.
The free tour coincides with Carers UK's 11th National Carers' Week which aims to encourage people to think about becoming a carer.
Bolton Carers Support Chief Officer, Michelle Clarke, said: "The event is to provide a short break from caring responsibilities, it should be a lot of fun."
Bolton Carers Support, based in Chorley New Road, acts as an information point to send people to the relevant help.
The organisation also offers a listening ear service to anyone who needs emotional support.
