LOCAL cycling enthusiasts have been saddened by the death of Bolton Clarion Cycling Club president Amy McLarty.
Amy was a tireless worker for the club, and was popular both as a competitive cyclist and as a very hard working organiser on the clubs social scene.
Before accepting the post of president she was a long-serving and hard working secretary and tied this in by excelling on the sporting front, having won most of the ladies prizes at the club.
Her dedication also led her to organising the weekly rides for a number of sections at the club, including beginners, easy paced and B rides, as well as taking part in the A rides as well.
Although her illness prevented her from taking part in a number of competitive events over the last 12 months, she never missed the opportunity to get on two wheels, and she was often seen around Bolton town centre on what she described as her "shopping bike".
