BOLTON'S historic Hall i'th' Wood Museum is gearing up for a successful season.

Beginning the programme is a talk called The Folklore and Traditions of the North-west on Wednesday, June 22, between 2pm and 3.30pm.

The illustrated talk will look at such traditions as Pace Egg races and Rushbearing Festivals. Tickets can be booked by calling 01204 332370.

As part of National Archaeology Week, the Hall is hosting a special weekend on Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17, when visitors will be able to have a go at a number of activities from sundial making to mini-digs.

On Saturday, July 23, the museum Nature Day will take place. Visitors can explore the grounds and discover much about the many creatures that live there.

Visitors can take part in a river dip or bug hunt and have a go at a range of activities.

All the workshops are included in the entrance price, but places are limited and must be booked in advance.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Youngsters looking for something to do over the summer holidays should go along to the hall every Wednesday afternoon for a range of activities from sunshine quizzes to summer sunshine crafts.
