THE fluoridation of our water supply is of serious concern to many thousands of local people. The very idea of adding a highly toxic substance to our drinking water is abhorrent.
Oh, we are told by so-called experts that the amount of poison added to our water will be so little, it will do us no harm.
But if the amount is so small that it will have no effect on our bodies, how come it is enough to have an effect on childrens teeth?
If the government was serious in its concern about childrens teeth, it would ensure that their teeth were monitored regularly, and that parents found lacking in looking after the dental health of their young ones were educated in dental hygiene, and made to take their responsibilities seriously.
My concern now is that the powers-that-be will bring in fluoridation through the back door.
It seems that the government has ruled out a referendum presumably because it fears it may not get the answer it wants and it now seems likely that some time very soon, health authorities will be sending out millions of leaflets proposing to extend fluoridation.
To have received a leaflet will be taken that you have been consulted.
If you do not object, it will be assumed that you do not mind fluoride being added to your drinking water.
Is this then the sneaky way that the government and health authorities intend to push ahead with fluoridation?
Perhaps MPs Iddon and Kelly can let us know.
Incidentally, I asked this question back in March last year, on these pages.
I am still waiting for an answer.
Are we to have a referendum, or are we not?
On an issue as important as our drinking water, we deserve nothing less.
