OFFICIALS from a vandal-plagued football club have slammed arsonists after their pavilion was set alight.
The changing rooms at Little Lever Amateur Football Club were badly damaged on Saturday night after vandals piled rubbish against the corrugated iron building and set fire to it.
The fire spread to the changing rooms at the ground on Meadow Close.
Firefighters managed to save the building but it was severely damaged.
Club chairman Steve Hoyle said: "The people responsible are just pathetic and we want compensation for what they have done.
"It's costing us £1,800 a year just to keep the club going.
"It might come to a point when we say enough is enough, we can't afford to keeping forking out to repair our facilities after vandal attacks, and we close.
"And that would be a crying shame if that did happen."
