I HAVE read recently all the letters in the Bolton Evening News on Nat Lofthouse getting a knighthood. I am sure he should have one, but I don't think Nat would relish being called Sir.
He is a down-to-earth lad, a great lad, and a great Ambassador to Bolton Wanderers Football Club because he is so modest. He was just an ordinary guy playing in those days for peanuts, not like the millionaire class today, and playing with a proper ball. I have met him and he is just an ordinary, nice guy. Tom Finney got his knighthood. He was a working lad.
He will not change his outlook on life now. I wish him well now he is getting on in years. He has been a credit to everyone.
