RE the bins/recycling collection service. We have to put out our bins the night before, due to the collection time being 7.30am (Fridays).
Last week my bin was out as usual. I heard the wagon go along emptying them and was therefore surprised to find that mine still contained its rubbish bag. Admittedly it was only one bag and there is plenty of room for this week's rubbish. But why was it not emptied? Do the binmen not even check all the bins now?
Also, I am still confused by the differing messages about green boxes - are we really supposed to put in (washed-out) empty food cans, with their serrated, rough edges or lids that could be a danger to children and pets?
I had thought it was only the aluminium cans that were recycled, and food cans tend to be steel. On the leaflet that came with our green box, it definitely said "not food cans", but if we are able to include these then we will need a larger, covered box.
