A GROUP of fanatical Bolton Wanderers supporters in Nigeria are eagerly awaiting a delivery of replica football shirts.
The fans, based in the Nigerian capital, Lagos, watch Sam Allardyce's men play live on TV but until now, their matchday experience has been incomplete - they did not have Wanderers shirts, as worn by their Reebok heroes.
But now, thanks to Bolton Wanderers Supporters Club and BBC radio station GMR, this is about to change, when an assortment of shirts is hand delivered to the Nigerian band of supporters.
Kath Brown, secretary of Bolton Wanderers Supporters Club, said: "Once they became affiliated last season, the supporters club asked us if we had any spare Bolton Wanderers shirts.
"Members have spent months collecting shirts and were struggling to raise the cash needed to ship the shirts over to Nigeria.
"We were contacted by GMR who said they were looking to go over to Nigeria to do a radio show. So we put them in touch with the supporters club in Lagos and now they will be taking over the shirts and delivering them personally them."
GMR reporter Sarah Collins will be flying out to Nigeria as part of the BBC's African season, where they will broadcast programmes between Friday and next Wednesday.
She said: "GMR wanted to focus on Nigeria and Jay Jay Okocha because he has just been named BBC African player of the year.
"We agreed to take the shirts over there and we will make a radio programme about our meeting. It's going to be exciting visiting the fans over there."
