RE: The concerns of Stuart Cartwright regarding buses and the lack of double-deckers (Letters, Wednesday, June 8, "Road hazards from double-decker buses").
Surely the writer must know that, under EU legislation, the size and length including height was determined by Brussels, the EU single market, which had nothing to do with enhancing trade, but the harmonisation of all goods.
All chairs and tables must have the same dimensions in metric across the whole EU. He must now know that 80 per cent of all laws, no matter how costly or absurd, emanate from Brussels, and, like good European citizens, we must obey those laws, as stated in the EU constitution.
We are obliged to fulfil the duties and obligations by being European citizens, which, with the EU constitution, will no longer be just a title, otherwise, as stated, our rights and freedoms can be removed if Brussels deems this necessary, as quoted "in the interests of the union".
