OUR Government officials may well ask what is the answer to the "yobbish" behaviour we are experiencing today.

They are obviously, or "conveniently", overlooking the fact that it was theirs, the politically correct brigade and the do-gooders', very own actions that has led us into this situation.

They first abolished discipline in our schools, and recently in our homes also. They prefer to put the blame on to the parents, the very parents who were brought up in the abolished discipline environment in our schools, who are now in their 20s and 30s.

How much crime and yobbish behaviour is there in Saudi Arabia? Am I the only person to notice that crime has risen in the Isle of Man since the PC Brigade and do-gooders got their way in doing away with the birch?

Discipline is not rocket science, it is fear of the consequences. Take away any fear of the consequences and you take away discipline. Not very difficult to understand really. Couple this with very intense media coverage of yobs running riot on our streets and repeatedly reminding them of their human rights and so-called political correctness, we now have a situation that is going to be very difficult to reverse. But if it wasn't broken in the first place, then why mend it?

But I am afraid we have to live with officials justifying their existence by mending things that are not broken.

It is going to take a very brave politician to bring in very strict "old" laws back; even the Prime Minister has now left it too late, he needed to act while he was in his second term of office.

When are we ever going to learn?
