FAISAL Alfredi came within a whisker of taking all 10 wickets against Adlington.

The Daisy Hill professional claimed nine wickets after Adlington opener Mark Robinson was the first to go, when he was run out for eight runs.

Only 14 times in the history of the Bolton Association has a bowler taking the maximum number of wickets in a single innings - and Alfredi became the 14th when he achieved the milestone last season.

Despite his efforts, he finished on the losing side as Daisy got nowhere near second bottom Adlington's total of 202.

Deputy pro, Callum Creevey, who plays his cricket for Walsden in the Central Lancashire League, scored 48 for Adlington with Mike Rawlings hitting 47 and Mark Halliwell 40.

In reply, 10-man Daisy were all out for 158, Matthew Taylor taking 5-41 including a hat-trick.

It was a family affair during the Daisy innings, with brothers Howard and Duncan Brooks scoring 33 and 36 respectively and their nephew Sean eclipsing them with 41.

Nick Kernick was the star of fourth bottom Edgworth's eight-wicket victory over Blackrod which left them two points behind their opponents.

He hit an unbeaten 72 as the village side coasted past Blackrod's 175-8.

Blackrod just did not get enough runs on the board, despite a fine 83 from Hilal Namajee. Danny Beswick took 4-42 for the winners.

Elton are one place and four points above Blackrod after their 47-run victory at Clifton.

Dexter Fitton laid the foundation for the win, the home side having no answer to the reigning champions' professional as he struck a superb unbeaten 106.

Rashid Riaz added 51 as the Bury side set a tough target of 236-4 which proved too much for Clifton, despite an excellent individual effort from Andrew Griffiths who hit 94. His dad, Geoff, chipped in with 23 but Clifton finished well short on 189-8 with Peter Lomax taking 3-26.
