BOLTON comic Peter Kay is to host the Live 8 concert in Edinburgh.
Peter Kay, best known for his role as nightclub boss Brian Potter in Bolton-based Channel 4 comedy Phoenix Nights, will present the star-studded concert on July 6 with fellow comedian Lenny Henry.
The Murrayfield concert will take place on July 6 in what is being described by organisers as a final push on the first day of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Perthshire.
Among the performers who have already confirmed they will be on stage in a bid to make poverty history are Texas, Travis, Annie Lennox, Snow Patrol, Ronan Keating, McFly, the Sugababes and Midge Ure.
Meanwhile, Bolton presenters Vernon Kay and Sara Cox will help to broadcast the London concert four days earlier.
Sara Cox and Vernon Kay will join a large number of stars in presenting BBC radio coverage of the worlds biggest rock event on July 2. They will bring listeners coverage of the event and give a flavour of what is happening elsewhere in the world.
The London concert will star Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Masonna, Robbie WIlliams, Elton John, U2 and Sting. Concerts are also taking place in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Philadephia.
