ALL four of Bolton's Sure Start centres have been given a Heart of Bolton gold award.
The awards are given to caterers who offer healthy eating options in a smoke-free environment and whon demonstrate high standards of food hygiene.
Staff at the centre were treated to a celebration ceremony at the Paulham Street centre to thank them for their role in promoting healthy eating for children, their parents and the general communities who use the Sure Start cafes in Halliwell, Great Lever, Kearsley and Rumworth.
The Baguette Experience sandwich shop on Bridge Street in the town centre also collected a gold award.
A silver award was given to the Inkaa Restaurant in Horwich.
Executive member for social inclusion and community safety, Cllr John Rothwell, said: "These awards, arranged by council food experts and health promotion specialists from Boltons Primary Care Trust are part of an intensive year-round campaign to keep local people safe from food borne illnesses."
Lesley Hardman from the Bolton PCT added: "The awards help us build up a partnership where local organisations and businesses work alongside the food and health professionals to promote safe and healthy eating."
