DETECTIVES say they have had a poor response to an appeal for information about a rape attack in Walkden.
A 17-year-old girl was dragged into an alleyway and raped just off Old Clough Lane shortly after she got off a bus on Manchester Road.
It is believed that the girl had been to Manchester city centre for a job interview and had stayed for a few hours to meet up with friends before returning home to Walkden, on Tuesday, June 14.
Only one witness has come forward, but was unable to help police with the investigation and the victim has been left too traumatised to give police a full description of the attacker.
She is being comforted by family at her home after being released from hospital.
Det Insp Joanne Rawlinson said: "We have spoken to the victim but so far we have been unable to get a good description.
"The response to our appeal has been poor.
"We have spoken to one of the passengers who was on the same bus the victim was travelling on, but he was unable to help us further.
"We would appeal for anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Salford CID on 0161 856 5040 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
