LAST week saw World Blood Donor Day, when a "celebration gallery" was displayed in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester, showcasing portraits of those whose lives have been saved by blood transfusions.
Blood donors are very special people; they give their time, their blood, and ultimately give life. And the payment they want in return?
Nothing more than to make anyone and everyone healthy and happy. A better world is this not?
More than can be said for speeding drivers. They steal time, spill blood, and ultimately terminate life.
And what do they want in return?
Leniency - if not a pardon.
They are only interested in their own health and happiness, and in many cases their wealth all at the expense of others.
Not only do they destroy life, they invalidate everything that blood donors, and indeed medical staff, have worked for. A terrible world is this not?
Maybe we could change all this if we had a World Road Death Day.
A commemoration gallery could be displayed, showcasing portraits of those who have been killed by speeding drivers. We could even make it extra special: all the portraits could be of children. Would Piccadilly Gardens be big enough?
