THE townspeople of Horwich will gather to celebrate its Fairtrade status.
The Mayor of Horwich, Cllr Stephen Rock, will host a civic reception for supporters of Fairtrade from all areas of the town including shops, businesses, schools, churches and the town council.
The celebration will be held in the council chamber, in the Public Hall, Lee Lane, next Thursday.
The Horwich Fairtrade Group has worked for a year to fulfill all the criteria to become a Fairtrade town.
Fairtrade produce enables farmers in poor countries to receive a fair price for their goods and ensures a decent future for them and their children.
Fairtrade goods can be bought in the town at the Co-op, Oxfam, Thyme Deli, Tesco, Asda and Starbucks.
Other supporters include St Joseph's High School, Rivington and Blackrod High School, 1471 (Horwich) Air Training Corps, Image Hair Design, Horwich Community Allotments, Hair by Jennifer and Horwich Town Council.
